Save on Non-Network Health Care with Shared Savings
When you seek care outside the UnitedHealthCare network, your out-of-pocket costs are generally higher. However, you can save on the covered non-network services by visiting physicians and facilities that participate in the Shared Savings program.
How Shared Savings Works
Though your claim will still be paid based on your plan’s non-network benefit level, Shared Savings physician and facilities agree to accept payment at a discounted rate. The amount paid after discount is then used to determine your out-of-pocket cost.
Shared Savings physicians and facilities will not collect the portion of billed charges that exceeds the discounted rate.

Note: Certain exceptions apply. There may be situations in which Shared Savings physicians are not paid per the Shared Savings program but are instead paid like other non-network physicians. In such cases, your out-of-pocked cost will be the same as if the physicians were not available through the Shared Savings program. Please see you organization’s Benefit Administrator for more information.
